Packaged up the online orders for shipment tomorrow.

Paid bills, did accounting & filing. Bleah, as usual, but according to my (possibly faulty) calculations (no good at accounting) it looks like A Castle of Books broke even last month. For the first time! Which is a good sign, if awfully long in coming.

Managed to keep from buying more junk, since there's just no more room.

Sorted more of the comic-con swag.

SDCC 2008 day 3
Max Brooks - Zombie guy!

Steve Purcell
Leaving
Senor Donut.

More crowded than Thursday, but not that significantly, except for perhaps mid-day and especially in the 3K Hollywood area. That was impassable at times. Too crowded to move quickly most of the time. Wished had more time to check out the small press booths, but did manage to hit most of the indy comic booths, and illustrators row booths. Very disappointed in SDCC 2008 for not providing a full attending professionals list - as they have every year in the past, it was a great help to see who would be there. As usual the bag-check people were rude and annoying.

Thursday

Closed for Comic-Con
SDCC 2008 day 2
Watchmen

It's official Acres of Books in Long Beach is closing forever. No longer just expected, but confirmed from the horses mouth as it were, Acres will close their doors forever. The sales will start soon, and it won't be long after that. It's a real shame, and a major blow coming just a year after the loss of the Book Baron. I'm too nice, I knew something was up with that kid (older teen black male, fairly articulate, soft spoken, casual dress) and I was sure I should have stopped him from messing around in the adult section, but I didn't want to 'bother' him. Then the Thief stole a box set of anime DVDs. He took them to the other side of the store, then when things got busy for a little while, he must have opened the box and taken the dvds, because the shredded box was right there where he had been loitering for hours. He then had the nerve to ask to use the phone because he was locked out of his house before he left... What is especially annoying is, that was the 2nd time that specific dvd set has been stolen, guess I should have known better...
Busy day, but still more in than out... & had just gotten the floor cleared off...
