Original slipcase is heavily worn, with broken seams and chipping - but it has done it's job and protected the actual volumes. Lithographs by Thomas Hart Benton. Number 1116 of 1146 published, signed by the artist (Benton) at the end of volume 2. Contains a prefatory remarks by Joseph Henry Jackson titled "John Steinbeck and the Grapes of Wrath" and Thomas Craven titled "Thomas Benton and the Grapes of Wrath." Printed note from the publisher about the binding laid-in to volume 2. This copy is *AUTOGRAPHED/SIGNED* by Thomas Hart Benton at the rear limitation page in volume 2 (as Benton). some minor wear to the joints (the exterior flexible fold where book cover meets book spine) as the rawhide leather needs more care.
